PROMOTION & DEVELOPMENT

NCDC is involved in planning, promoting, coordinating and financing of cooperative development programmes at the national level. It provides financial and technical support to cooperative institutions of farmers and other weaker sections associated with agriculture and allied rural economic activities.

The promotional and developmental role is distinctly reflected in the following spheres of its operations:

  • Assisting in planning for cooperative development and thus, helping the Central and State Governments in formulation of Annual Plans.

  • Extending consultancy support for formulation of development projects in the cooperative sector.

  • Coordinating activities of cooperatives with various Government Offices, institutions etc.

  • Imparting training to cooperative personnel to upgrade their operational skills for successful implementation of projects financed by the Corporation.

  • Convening All-India and Regional conferences/ workshops to facilitate exchange of information and review of progress etc.

NCDC maintains Institutional membership of National as well as International Professional bodies for constant interaction and up-gradation of information regarding technological and managerial developments in relevant fields.

Sahakar Cooptube NCDC Channel:

Sahakar Cooptube NCDC Channel was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on 04.08.2020. This is another NCDC initiative to promote cooperatives towards the development of cooperatives. Guidance videos on “Formation and Registration of Cooperatives” in different languages have been prepared by the Studio Cell and are uploaded on SAHAKAR COOPTUBE channel. Guidance videos for 24 states have been launched in various regional languages including Odia, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and Mizo besides Hindi.

Sahakar Pragya:

Sahakar Pragya launched on 24.11.2020, is a Capacity Development programme for primary cooperatives through 18 Regional Training Centres of NCDC with 45 business training modules. Sahakar Pragya focuses on developing professionalism in primary cooperatives working in agriculture and allied sectors. It designs and conducts need-based programmes for personnel of assisted cooperatives and its own officials. It collaborates with CICTAB, NEDAC and other international agencies to conduct specialised programmes for co-operators in India and abroad including those from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperatives (SAARC) countries. The 1st and 2nd quarterly review meetings of Advisory Body of SPCGP were held on 03.02.2022 and 14.07.2022 respectively.

Launch of New Schemes and Programmes

During FY 2022-23, NCDC launched two new schemes/programmes as mentioned below:

  1. Dirghavadhi Krishak Punji Sahakar Yojna – Scheme for extending NCDC’s long term loan to agricultural credit cooperatives for onward lending of long term loans/advances to its members for activities/ commodities/ services under the purview of NCDC.

  2. Swayam Shakti Sahakar Yojna – Scheme for strengthening women Self Help Groups (SHGs)/ Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) through credit cooperatives.

Fellowships

Fellowships for Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at IIM Ahmedabad to develop professional skills and training capability of cooperative institutions.Fellowships for development of managerial skills of managers/executives of cooperatives at VAMNICOM, Pune.

Study visits

Study visits for the Directors of BoM, Chairman, CEOs and other key personnel of cooperative societies to good working societies within the country to help them learn success factors and develop conviction and replicate the success.
