Right to Information Act

The Right to Information Act, 2005 has been passed by Parliament and has received the assent of the President on 15 June 2005 The Act aims at providing for setting out the practical regime of the right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities, in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority, the constitution of a Central Information Commission and State Information Commission and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The Act extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu & Kashmir. The entire Act comes into force with effect from 12 October 2005. Under the provision of the said Act, NCDC as a Public Authority is under obligation to publish certain data as required under Section 4 (1) (b) of the Act. Under Section 5(1), NCDC has designated Ms. Mamta Rani Ahuja, Director, ,Library Division,Official Language Division (Rajbhasha Prabhag), Head Office, New Delhi as the Chief Public Information Officer (CPIO). Regulation of Fees and Costs for obtaining information:

Citizens who wish to obtain information regarding NCDC can approach NCDC Head Office, New Delhi for information relating to NCDC in general and Regional Directorates located at 18 State headquarters for information specific to their State. The information would be provided based on an application (download application) [PDF, English, 23.2KB] accompanied by the prescribed fees for the purpose. The fees prescribed for the purpose are as under :

Application Fee : Rs. 10/- per application:

  • Rs. 2/- per page (in A4 size paper) created or copied
  • actual charge or cost price of a copy in larger size paper
  • actual cost or price for samples or models; and
  • for inspection of records no fee for the first hour and a fee of Rs.5/- for each 15 minutes (or fraction thereof thereafter).
  • For information provided in diskettes, floppy : Rs.50/- for diskette or floppy
  • For information in printed at the price fixed for such publication or Rs.2/- per page of photocopy.
  • The amount may be tendered at the Head Office or concerned Regional Directorates of NCDC in the form of Cash or by IPO or by Demand Draft or Banker’s Cheque drawn in favour of National Cooperative Development Corporation. The IPOs may be payable at New Delhi while Demand Drafts and Banker’s Cheque would be accepted in the following Banks:
